Palm pilots use configuration software to define “rules” and what folders within the mailbox are tied to the palm pilot for synchronization. Some configuration software defines the rules based upon folder identifier. Others base the rules upon the folder name. You cannot determine the method that the configuration software uses to tie the palm pilot to the folder simply by looking. The folder is always displayed by name to the end user.
When a mailbox is moved to another server, new FIDs, or Folder Identifiers are created for each folder in the mailbox. If the palm pilot configuration software uses these FIDs, it will no longer be able to sync up to that folder.
Resolution:
Have the user delete/re-create the palm pilot rule within the configuration software.
